Job summary

Reboot Monkey is seeking a Freelance Data Center Technician to deliver on-demand support for global data centers. You will install, configure, and maintain servers and networking gear, and troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.

You will work independently with remote teams, possibly traveling to data centers on short notice, and contribute to secure, reliable, and efficient data center operations.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• 3+ years of experience in data center operations, with emphasis on independent or freelance projects.
• Strong proficiency with Cisco and Juniper networking devices; experience with Windows and Linux systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment and hardware for optimal performance and uptime.
• Monitor data center operations remotely and on-site; diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues to minimize downtime.
• Configure networking devices (Cisco/Juniper) to ensure secure, efficient operations.
• Manage Linux and Windows systems; apply patches and security enhancements.
• Document installations, repairs, and performance; provide reports to remote management.
• Implement security protocols to protect data center infrastructure.
• Collaborate with remote IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders on projects.
