Overview
Job Summary: The Forklift Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a forklift to move, load, unload, and stack materials within a warehouse or production facility. This role requires a high level of safety awareness and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Material Handling
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and other vehicles.
- Move materials between different areas of the warehouse or production floor.
- Stack and store materials in designated locations.
- Retrieve materials from storage locations as needed.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage.
- Forklift Operation
- Safely operate a forklift in accordance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform daily pre-operational and post-operational inspections of the forklift.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
- Inventory Control
- Assist with inventory control and tracking as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of materials handled.
- Safety
- Adhere to all workplace safety rules and regulations.
- Wear appropriate safety gear (e.g., safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Other Duties
- Assist with other warehouse or production tasks as assigned.
- May be required to perform general warehouse duties such as cleaning and organizing.
Experience
Prior experience operating a forklift preferred.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Skills
- Valid forklift operator certification required (if applicable).
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
