Job description

About Us

At Félix, we're building the financial ecosystem for Latin immigrants in the U.S., starting with a revolution in remittances. Our core product is an AI-powered chatbot built on WhatsApp, allowing our users to send money home as easily as sending a text message. We leverage cutting-edge technology like AI, blockchain, and stablecoins to make cross‑border payments faster, more affordable, and more accessible than ever before.

We are a hyper‑growth Series B company, backed by over $100 million in funding from top‑tier global investors, including QED, Castle Island, Switch Ventures, HTwenty, Monashees, and General Catalyst Customer Value Fund. This isn't just about the numbers; it's a testament to the trust our investors have in our vision and our team. Additionally, Félix was selected as an “Endeavour Entrepreneur” and was a recipient of the CrossTech Fintech Startups Award. We are a group of extremely talented and dedicated high‑performers, united by our shared obsession with a single goal: empowering our customers. We are all owners of Félix, driven by a bias for action and a true experimentation spirit to get shit done with urgency and focus.

Joining Félix means you will be part of a team building a legacy, a company that will outlive us all. This is a rare opportunity to apply your skills to a deeply meaningful mission—serving a community that has been underserved for too long. We are a team that is fiercely loyal to each other, where radical transparency and constructive feedback are how we grow and push for excellence. We are bold, we care less about what others are doing, and more about creating sustainable value and a product that truly makes our users' lives better. We are building the future, today.

About The Role

Felix is seeking a FinOps Lead to own the financial operations and reconciliation infrastructure supporting its Wallets & Cards products. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for designing scalable financial processes, partnering with technical teams to automate them, and ensuring transaction flows and balances remain complete, accurate, and well controlled as Felix launches and scales new financial products.

You’ll report directly to the Head of Finance and work closely with Accounting, Treasury, Product, Engineering, Data, Compliance, and external financial partners.

Responsibilities
Reconciliations & Controls
  • Own end‑to‑end reconciliations across customer balances, internal ledgers, processors, bank or custodial accounts, and the general ledger.
  • Develop a complete understanding of how funds and transactions move across Felix’s systems and financial partners.
  • Design reconciliation workflows and controls, including sources of truth, matching logic, cutoff rules, tolerances, and exception‑handling procedures.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data to automate reconciliation processes, validate the underlying logic, and ensure the resulting outputs are complete and accurate.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items within defined SLAs, escalating systemic issues with clear root‑cause analysis and remediation plans.
  • Monitor financial flows for failures, delays, or anomalies and coordinate their resolution with the appropriate internal and external teams.
  • Maintain clear documentation of reconciliation logic, controls, and outcomes for accounting, audit, and regulatory purposes.
Subledger & GL Hygiene
  • Maintain the integrity of Wallets & Cards subledgers and ensure operational activity is accurately mapped to the general ledger.
  • Monitor customer liabilities, settlement balances, clearing accounts, suspense accounts, and other unreconciled balances.
  • Partner with the Controller to define clear handoffs between FinOps records, reconciliation outputs, and the month‑end close.
  • Ensure subledger and accounting processes remain accurate as new products, transaction types, and financial partners are introduced.
Process & Infrastructure Building
  • Build scalable financial operations processes and controls that can support increasing transaction volumes without proportional growth in manual work.
  • Establish SOPs, ownership, operating cadences, reporting, and escalation frameworks for Wallets & Cards financial operations.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce technical and operational debt through automation, better data visibility, and stronger controls.
  • While initially focused on Wallets & Cards, contribute to the broader development of Felix’s financial operations and reconciliation infrastructure across products.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
  • Serve as the Finance subject‑matter expert for Wallets & Cards operations.
  • Work closely with the Controller to ensure FinOps outputs support a clean and timely month‑end close.
  • Coordinate with Treasury on settlement, funding, liquidity movements, and bank activity.
  • Work with Accounting and Compliance to ensure processes support financial reporting, auditability, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits with documentation, reconciliation evidence, and process walkthroughs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 6–9 years of experience in financial operations, reconciliations, accounting, controllership, payments operations, or a related function.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, banking, wallets, cards, brokerage, or another transaction‑heavy business strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, operating, or materially improving high‑volume reconciliation processes.
  • Strong accounting foundation and understanding of how operational transaction flows feed into subledgers and the general ledger.
  • Strong technical fluency and experience working with Engineering and Data teams to translate financial requirements into system logic.
  • Comfortable working with transaction‑level data; SQL or similar data‑analysis capabilities are strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes and controls from scratch in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Able to independently own critical financial processes as a senior individual contributor.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
