Financial Analytics and Risk Associate

Job Summary
We are looking for a Financial Analytics and Risk Associate to support financial risk advisory, quantitative analysis, data-driven risk assessments, and consulting engagements for banks, financial institutions, and other regulated organizations.
The role will focus on analyzing financial and risk-related data, supporting risk measurement and reporting, performing quantitative procedures, and assisting in the evaluation of financial models, risk methodologies, and internal controls. The successful candidate will work closely with engagement teams and data analytics specialists to translate financial data into meaningful insights and practical risk management recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analytics and Risk Assessment
- Assist in analyzing financial, operational, and risk-related data to support advisory and risk management engagements.
- Perform quantitative analysis to identify trends, risk exposures, anomalies, and potential areas of concern.
- Support the evaluation of financial risk measurement methodologies, assumptions, and analytical approaches.
- Assist in assessing credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and other financial risk areas.
- Prepare financial analyses, risk summaries, dashboards, and other analytical outputs to support client decision-making.
Quantitative Analysis and Model Support
- Perform data validation, statistical testing, and quantitative procedures to support financial risk assessments and model-related engagements.
- Assist in reviewing financial and risk models, including model assumptions, methodologies, data inputs, performance, and limitations.
- Apply statistical techniques, such as regression analysis, time-series analysis, and other relevant quantitative methods, where appropriate.
- Support model risk management and independent model validation activities under the guidance of senior team members.
- Interpret analytical results and assist in identifying potential risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
Data Management and Analytics Tools
- Gather, organize, validate, and analyze data from financial, operational, and regulatory sources.
- Use Microsoft Excel and other analytics tools to perform calculations, reconciliations, data testing, and reporting.
- Develop or support dashboards, visualizations, and automated analytical reports using tools such as Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, Power Automate, or R.
- Assist in improving data quality, analytical processes, and reporting efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation of data sources, assumptions, procedures, and analytical results.
Risk Advisory and Engagement Support
- Support financial risk advisory, regulatory consulting, internal audit, and assurance engagements.
- Assist in reviewing risk management frameworks, internal controls, and financial risk policies.
- Participate in research on banking regulations, financial risk management practices, and industry developments.
- Prepare working papers, presentations, technical analyses, reports, and other engagement deliverables.
- Collaborate with engagement teams, data analytics specialists, and client stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely project outputs.
- Manage multiple assignments and contribute to the successful completion of client engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Accountancy, Economics, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least two (2) years of relevant professional experience in financial analytics, risk analytics, quantitative analysis, banking, financial services, model validation, data analytics, audit, or risk advisory.
- Working knowledge of financial risk management principles and financial services operations.
- Understanding of quantitative analysis, statistical concepts, and financial risk measurement.
- Familiarity with financial models, risk analytics, or data-driven risk assessment.
- Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques, such as regression, time-series analysis, or other relevant methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Exposure to data analytics and visualization tools, such as Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, R, or Power Automate.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engagement teams and manage multiple assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CFA, FRM, or other relevant professional certification.
- Experience in a professional services firm, bank, financial institution, risk management, financial analytics, or data analytics function.
- Exposure to credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, or interest rate risk analysis.
- Experience in financial modeling, quantitative risk analysis, statistical testing, or model validation.
- Familiarity with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) regulations and banking risk management requirements.
- Knowledge of statistical and machine-learning techniques and their application to financial risk analysis.
- Experience with R, Python, Power BI, Alteryx, or other financial analytics and automation tools.
