About the role

Starland International School, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our secondary education team. This is a full-time position based at our campus in West Kamias, Quezon City, Metro Manila. As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the linguistic and literary development of our secondary students, fostering critical thinking skills, and cultivating a love of language and communication. This position is integral to our mission of providing high-quality international education and preparing students for academic success and global citizenship.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English lessons to secondary students following the school curriculum and international standards
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and academic growth
• Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback and maintaining detailed records
• Develop and utilise diverse teaching resources, including literature, digital media and interactive materials to enhance student engagement
• Teach comprehensive English language skills including reading, writing, listening and speaking across multiple genres and text types
• Prepare students for examinations and standardised language assessments
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop integrated learning experiences and support cross-curricular initiatives
• Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities and school events
• Foster student wellbeing and provide pastoral support as needed within the classroom context

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in English, English Literature, Language Studies or a related field
• Teaching qualification or certification relevant to secondary English education (such as a TEFL, TESOL, or local teaching credential)
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience teaching English at secondary level
• Strong command of English language grammar, literature and composition
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse learners
• Proficiency in using technology and digital tools for educational purposes
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners
• Passion for fostering student engagement and critical thinking skills
• Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
• Knowledge of international curriculum frameworks (such as IB, Cambridge or similar) would be advantageous
• Experience in a multicultural or international school setting is preferred but not essential
