Job summary

Verkada is hiring a UI engineer to build interfaces for embedded devices within our access control line. You will translate the same polished UX from web and mobile into constrained hardware, shaping a UI framework for Verkada screen devices now and in the future.

You’ll join a startup within a startup, enjoying ownership and collaboration with engineers and designers to deliver intuitive, high-quality user experiences across devices. Onsite work is required, five days a week.

Qualifications

About the Role

We are a small, dynamic team focused on building cloud-managed access control systems. Access Control is Verkada’s second major product line. Our Access Control solution allows users to manage their doors, schedules, and user credentials from virtually anywhere on their laptop or phone.

We are building a line of embedded devices with screens, and we need an amazing UI engineer to build interfaces for these devices. You’ll have the challenge of building the kind of intuitive experiences that our customers have come to expect from our web and mobile software, but in a much more constrained hardware environment. You’ll also be helping develop a UI framework for all Verkada screen devices now and in the future.

We consider our team a startup within a startup, with a fair amount of ownership and autonomy. You’ll be working alongside a dynamic team of engineers and UX designers to develop these products.

What You Bring

• BS or a graduate degree in Computer Science, Maths, Engineering, or science
• 3+ years of experience in UI development on embedded devices, video games, and/or mobile applications
• Android mobile application development experience preferred but optional
• Proficient in C/C++
• A strong sense of visual design and UX
• Excited by new products and startups
• You think about delivering best-in-class products and experiences - not features
• You can take a less-than-fully-fleshed-out product idea and drive it to completion
• Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week

Pay Disclosure

With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity

This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting base pay may be above or below this range. Base pay is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Estimated Hourly Pay Range

$130,000 — $300,000 USD

Annual Pay Range

Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).
