Responsibilities
- Read blueprints or technical diagrams
- Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers
- Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools
- Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code
- Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment
- Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code
- Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears
- Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs
- Run computer cables, connect computer jacks and plugs and test for adequate operation
- Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
- Survey electrical systems, circuits and plans
- Respond quickly to all service requests and efficiently repair electrical systems
- Work rapidly without compromising quality in order to minimize down times
- Communicate estimated timelines for repairs to those impacted
- Conduct tests and assessments of new systems and repairs to ensure quality
- Commit to compliance with all safety standards and regulations at all times
- Perform preventative maintenance to stay ahead of potential issues
- Troubleshoot all problems effectively, performing quality, lasting repairs
- Install new equipment and wiring to expand infrastructure as needed
- Log all services and report progress to management
- Always seek the solution that is most cost effective without compromising quality
- Assess systems and suggest modifications to prevent future issues
- Maintain all equipment in excellent working order
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Industrial electricians install, service and repair wiring, conduits, fixtures and other electrical devices and systems in industrial or commercial settings
- Most work may be in maintenance or construction and must meet National Electrical Code requirements
- Read blueprints or technical diagrams; install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems; inspect electrical components; identify problems with testing devices
- Experience with Refrigeration and Air-conditioning or higher
- A Higher Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is an added advantage
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required; degree in electrical engineering preferred
- 5+ years’ experience in the electrical trade
- Experience reading blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience fabricating, assembling, and installing wire harnesses
- Experience installing electrical panels
- Experience in commercial and residential settings strongly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and all necessary equipment
- Able to utilize hand tools and power tools
- Solid working knowledge of all code requirements
- Ability and willingness to follow all legal and company safety regulations
- Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Physical ability to complete this type of work, often in demanding environments
- Pride in your work; team-player mentality; able to work independently with little supervision
- Valid electrician license in good standing
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as an electrical technician
- Experience installing electrical panels and wiring; ability to read blueprints
