Job summary

IDinsight in Manila, Philippines is seeking an Economist (Consultant) to bring applied microeconomics and causal inference expertise to a diverse client portfolio. The role focuses on rigorous evaluation design, analysis, and evidence-informed decision making across geographies and sectors.

The consultant will work under time and budget constraints, comparing trade-offs and delivering actionable guidance for client teams.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in economics, econometrics, applied statistics or related quantitative field.
• PhD preferred; Master’s degree with strong research track considered.
• Proven command of causal inference and applied microeconometrics.
• Experience with experimental and quasi-experimental identification strategies.
• At least 5 years post-graduate experience in evaluations or quantitative research in LMICs.
• Proficiency in Stata or R sufficient to write and review code.

Responsibilities

• Research design and analysis for evaluations and other research activities.
• Technical review and quality assurance of evaluation designs and reports.
• Technical capacity building and mentoring on causal inference and related topics.
• Scoping support and advisory on project feasibility and design.
