Job summary

Unilever Philippines is seeking an E&I Shift Engineer to provide technical expertise in repairs and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, and control facilities at the General Trias, Cavite site.

You will drive safety and quality initiatives, supervise contractor activities, and ensure reliable operation of substation gear, MCCs, PLC-based systems, HMIs, and drives. A Diploma in Electrical Engineering (REE/RME preferred) and strong Excel skills are required.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• REE/RME license preferred; strong electrical knowledge.
• Experience with PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Proficient in MS Excel and technical report writing.
• Knowledge of GMP/HACCP, OSHAS/EMS standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems (substations, MCCs, PCC, transformers).
• Install and maintain control systems, HMIs, drives, and instrumentation.
• Coordinate with contractors for medium-scale repairs and projects.
• Prepare work orders, site inspections, and quality documentation.
• Support safety audits and ensure compliance with EHS procedures.
• Assist in routine E&I maintenance and emergency work orders.

Job description

MAIN JOB PURPOSE

The E&I Shift Engineer reports directly to the E&I Manager. His/her primary role is to provide technical expertise in the Repairs and Maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, and controls facilities. The E&I Shift Engineer does not have any direct reports but may be appointed to handle Contractors or Engineering Service providers for specific activities.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety and Quality Ensure compliance to Safety and Occupational Health procedures (i.e., use of proper PPEs and reporting of unsafe acts and conditions through SBO, etc.). Ensure compliance to environmental policy (i.e., proper waste segregation and water and energy conservation, etc.). Ensures compliance to GMP and HACCP (i.e., proper hygiene and proper wearing uniforms, etc.). Participates in QBO program Follow prescribed work procedures and company safety rules and regulations

Maintenance Perform diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems such as: E-house/Electrical substation Substation equipment/s such as: Power Transformer, Medium Voltage Switch Gear, Load Break Switch, Power Control Center (PCC), Capacitor Bank, Harmonic Filter, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Building/Industrial Wiring, Distribution Panels, Motor Control Centers Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain control systems/equipment (simple to complex) such as: Motor Controls, PLC-Based Control Systems, Electro-pneumatics, Weighing System, Instrumentation and Controls, HMI, Servo Motor and Drives, Sensors and Control, Variable Frequency Drives, Motors, Instruments Calibration Assist Electrical-Instrumentation Engineer and/or Specialists in handling contractors on medium scale Repair and Maintenance and Projects. Prepare work instructions, perform site inspections, monitor activities and check quality of workmanship at site. Assists the E&I Engineer in performing audits and execution of corrective action to ensure compliance with Unilever’s Electrical Safety Prepare work order Completion of Emergency Work Order (EWO) Prepare and organize documentation requirements for Repairs and Maintenance of the following: Wiring diagrams (P&IDs), Procedures for Operation and Maintenance, Equipment/spares List, Repairs and Maintenance Reports, Visual Controls, Test and Calibration Reports, Other Documents necessary for R&M. Designated as Authorized Person. A person who has been appointed in writing by a Senior Authorised Person to carry out specified duties. According to level of authorisation, this may include authority to issue and cancel specified safety documents. Carry out work on high voltage switching. Switching or tripping of high voltage apparatus under emergency conditions Carry out routine duties in substation Isolation of high voltage equipment Carry out testing of high voltage testing using approved testing equipment Earthing on high voltage equipment Designated as ERT Operational Excellence, assist and support the production team in carrying out changeover activities in the line. Work with other technicians to perform troubleshooting. Accomplishes log sheets and report findings. Can act as person-in-charge for activities they are competent in, in the absence of their line manager. Admin Compliance to company COBP, CR&R Compliance to the GMP and GHK rules of the plant Focused Improvement Participates in Focused Improvement activities Executes agreed Focused Improvement actions Raises improvement activities (OFI) and OPL Validates results and effectiveness of Focused Improvement activities via real time observations Maintenance Perform routine activities such as operation, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of Mixers and ensure that machines are available for production Perform preventive and autonomous maintenance task, including CILT, based on the calendar given by the maintenance planner Participates in the EWO (emergency work order) filling up and execution of actions that relates to prevent any similar breakdown Digital Able to operate simple gadgets such as smart phone and iPad Learn and adapt to digital tools as required by the Company Manning Participates in trainings and other ad hoc activities as required by the Company

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Any Technical Course Relevant to Stated Functions Preferably with Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) / Registered Master Electrician (RME) License Knowledge in hydraulic, electrical, or electronic process instrumentation and control systems Knowledge of Basic R2S/UMS Principles such as UMS Pillars, OEE Computation, Loss Measurements, Problem Solving Techniques, Statistical Process Control and Cost Variance Analysis Basic knowledge in thermodynamics, heat exchanger, and pressure vessel operation. Basic analytical skills for physico-chemical properties and basic knowledge of raw material quality and specifications. Knowledge of the 5S Principles and the ability to consistently practice them Basic knowledge of OSHAS, EMS, GMP and HACCP Ability to prepare accurate technical reports and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing Must possess basic PC skills, MS Excel skills, Good Communication Skills, comfortable working in an open team environment, have the ability to plan, organize and execute work with a minimum of supervision and have a strong awareness of safety issues.
