Job summary

Playasia.com is seeking a mid-level Web Developer to join its IT team, focusing on the e-commerce platform backend and frontend features. You will work within the PHP codebase, contributing to feature development, maintenance, and performance improvements that directly serve customers.

The role requires 2–4 years of PHP experience, solid database and web technology knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional PHP development experience.
• Solid relational DB understanding (MySQL/MariaDB) including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with Git for version control.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Linux-based server environments.
• Understanding of HTTP, sessions, authentication and security basics (XSS, SQL injection prevention).
• Ability to work within a large existing codebase and follow established patterns.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools like Claude Code or Cursor.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain features across the PHP-based web application.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested PHP code following project conventions.
• Work with MySQL/MariaDB databases and write efficient queries.
• Debug and resolve issues in production and staging environments.
• Collaborate with other developers on code reviews and standards.
• Work with Docker-based local development and nginx configuration.
• Contribute to frontend and backend logic as needed.
• Participate in planning discussions and provide input on technical approach.
• Write and maintain documentation for features built.
• Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and code review workflows.
