A driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of passengers, goods, or services.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation:
- Safely operate a vehicle to transport goods or passengers to designated locations.
- Follow planned routes and meet delivery schedules or pick-up times.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance (e.g., checking oil, tires, lights).
- Report any mechanical issues or needed repairs.
Compliance:
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain required documentation, such as mileage logs, delivery records, or passenger manifests.
Customer Service:
- Interact professionally with customers, clients, or passengers.
- Handle complaints or issues that arise during transportation.
Loading and Unloading:
- Assist in loading and unloading goods, ensuring proper handling and securement.
- Verify the accuracy of delivery or pick-up against orders or manifests.
Navigation:
- Use GPS or maps to determine the best routes.
- Adjust routes based on traffic, road conditions, or customer needs.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of hours worked, mileage, and expenses.
Licensing & Certification:
- Valid driver’s license (appropriate for the vehicle type).
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for truck, bus, or heavy vehicle drivers.
- Passenger or hazardous materials endorsement (if applicable).
- Clean driving record with minimal or no violations.
Experience:
- Prior driving experience preferred (may be required for some roles).
- Familiarity with GPS navigation and route planning.
- Experience with vehicle maintenance and minor repairs is a plus.
