Data Engineer - Solutions Team. Own end-to-end data solution design, from requirement discovery and architecture through implementation and deployment. Design secure, scalable, reliable and cost-effective data platforms using cloud-native services and fit-for-purpose databases.

Key responsibilities

Own end-to-end data solution design, from requirement discovery and architecture through implementation and deployment.

Design secure, scalable, reliable and cost-effective data platforms using cloud-native services and fit-for-purpose databases.

Prepare high-level and low-level designs, data flows, interface specifications, data models and technical estimates.

Build and review production-grade Python and SQL solutions, reusable pipeline components and engineering standards.

Define data quality, reconciliation, monitoring, alerting, lineage, governance and operational support requirements.

Lead technical discussions, design reviews, estimation sessions and solution presentations with engineering teams and stakeholders.

Assess source systems, data volumes, integration patterns, non-functional requirements, dependencies, risks and migration constraints.

Guide developers, review deliverables, troubleshoot complex issues and provide timely status, risk and escalation updates.

About you

8+ years of experience in data engineering, including solution design and enterprise-scale delivery.

Strong hands-on expertise in Python and SQL, with experience in Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT, data modelling and scalable data architecture.

Experience designing and implementing batch or near-real-time data pipelines, orchestration and integration solutions.

Working knowledge of cloud data services on at least one major cloud platform, including security, monitoring and cost considerations.

Ability to translate business requirements into solution designs, estimates, assumptions, dependencies and implementation plans.

Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and present recommendations clearly.

Exposure to Kafka or similar streaming and messaging platforms (good-to-have).

Knowledge of CI/CD, Unix/Linux scripting, containerisation or infrastructure-as-code practices (good-to-have).

Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or BusinessObjects (good-to-have).
