DATA ARCHITECT – PRESALES

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Architect – Presales is responsible for designing and presenting data architecture solutions that address client business and technical requirements. The role combines strong data architecture expertise with presales, solution consulting, client engagement, and technical presentation capabilities, supporting opportunities from requirements discovery through solution design, proposal development, and client presentations.

The role is responsible for developing logical and physical data architecture for data warehouses, data lakes, BI, ETL, and related data platforms, while providing technical leadership and guidance to implementation teams. The Data Architect – Presales will work closely with clients, sales teams, solution architects, and delivery teams to develop scalable, secure, and commercially viable data solutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Presales & Client Engagement

• Lead or support presales activities including client discovery sessions, technical discussions, solution presentations, demonstrations, and proposal development.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand business objectives, technical requirements, data challenges, and current-state environments.
• Translate business requirements into data architecture and solution proposals aligned with client needs.
• Develop and present solution architecture, data models, technical approaches, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support the preparation of RFP/RFI responses, proposals, statements of work, technical presentations, and solution documents.
• Collaborate with Sales, Account Managers, Solution Architects, and Delivery teams to develop competitive and feasible technical solutions.
• Provide technical inputs for effort estimation, solution scope, assumptions, risks, dependencies, and implementation approaches.
• Participate in client presentations, workshops, technical due diligence, and solution defense activities.
• Identify opportunities for data modernization, cloud migration, data platforms, analytics, BI, and other data-related solutions.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor during the presales lifecycle and help transition successful opportunities to delivery teams.

Data Architecture & Solution Design

• Design logical data models, ensuring alignment with business requirements, industry standards, and data modeling best practices.
• Create robust physical data models optimized for efficient data storage, retrieval, scalability, and maintainability.
• Design and recommend architectures for data warehouses, data lakes, data platforms, ETL/ELT, BI, and analytics solutions.
• Provide optimization strategies for existing data models and data architectures, incorporating performance, scalability, and maintainability improvements.
• Review technical deliverables to ensure completeness, correctness, data quality, and alignment with business requirements.
• Ensure physical designs comply with Data Architecture standards, industry best practices, security requirements, and applicable compliance requirements.
• Guide and provide technical inputs to Solution Architects and implementation teams on the design and implementation of BI and data solutions.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of source systems to determine appropriate and reliable sources of information.
• Provide source-to-target mappings for reports, data extractions, integrations, and analytical requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to implementation teams during solution development and delivery.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education

• Graduate of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Related Work Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Solution Architecture, or related data technology roles.
• Strong presales or solution consulting experience is required.
• Proven experience participating in or leading client-facing presales engagements, technical presentations, solution workshops, RFP/RFI responses, or proposal development.
• Must have experience designing and/or developing mid- to large-scale data warehouse, data lake, or enterprise data platform solutions.
• Experience implementing relational and/or NoSQL databases or Hadoop technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata, Hive, Impala, MongoDB, Cassandra, or HBase.
• Experience in Reporting, BI, ETL/ELT, or Data Engineering is required.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms and modern data technologies is an advantage.

Knowledge
