Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, credit risk assessment, or commercial lending within a financial institution
• Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with proficiency in reviewing financial statements and ratios
• In-depth knowledge of credit risk assessment methodologies, lending practices, and banking regulations
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify risks and inconsistencies in documentation
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate credit recommendations clearly

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and analyse credit applications from commercial clients, assessing creditworthiness, financial viability, and repayment capacity
• Conduct thorough due diligence on prospective borrowers, including review of financial statements, business plans, and collateral valuations
• Prepare comprehensive credit risk assessments and recommendations for loan approvals or rejections
• Monitor existing commercial loan portfolios to identify early warning signs of credit deterioration
• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate credit risk exposure across the commercial lending book
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal credit policies, and lending guidelines
• Maintain detailed documentation and records of all credit decisions and risk assessments
• Collaborate with relationship managers and other stakeholders to support business objectives whilst maintaining prudent credit standards
• Participate in regular credit review meetings and provide recommendations for portfolio management
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in credit risk management
