General Summary:
Can you write for a machine and a human in the same sentence?
We’re looking for a sharp, curious copywriter who writes fast, edits ruthlessly, and treats AI tools as a craft multiplier rather than a shortcut. Our team is collaborative, opinionated about good writing, and has a good time doing it.
Through clear, thoughtful, and engaging communication, this role supports our mission to create better learning experiences and help more students, families, and schools thrive.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Copywriter writes and revises copy across a wide range of channels, brands, products, and audiences. This position collaborates with a cross-functional creative and marketing team to concept and produce traditional, digital, and social campaigns.
Responsibilities include:
- Write clear, persuasive copy for websites, landing pages, blogs, digital ads, email, social media, video scripts, radio scripts, editorial content, and print collateral.
- Write across multiple education-focused brands, education technology products, and school clients, adapting messaging for families, students, educators, administrators, and business decision-makers.
- Write web and blog copy optimized for both traditional search engine optimization and generative engine optimization, including structured, citable, and factually grounded content that AI assistants can surface and summarize accurately.
- Conduct keyword and query research, then develop copy around real search intent rather than keyword stuffing.
- Use AI writing and research tools to accelerate research, drafting, variant generation, and testing while applying strong editorial judgment to everything they produce.
- Develop and maintain prompt libraries, brand voice guides, and style references so AI-assisted output remains on brand and meets quality standards.
- Adapt one core idea across multiple formats, channels, and lengths without losing the voice or intent of the brand.
- Translate campaign strategies, audience insights, product information, and complex ideas into clear, engaging, and actionable messaging.
- Revise, edit, and proofread content as needed or directed by stakeholders and clients.
- Ensure all copy is accurate, original, properly sourced when applicable, and reviewed for potential AI errors, unsupported claims, and brand or reputational risk.
- Provide input on messaging approaches, calls to action, lead-nurturing strategies, and promotional campaigns.
- Collaborate closely with our U.S.-based marketing and creative teams.
- Partner with marketing strategists and analysts to understand how copy performs and refine content based on traffic, search visibility, engagement, conversions, and other available performance data.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills, with an emphasis on AP Style.
- Fluency with AI writing and research tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar platforms, including prompting, iterating, evaluating, and fact-checking AI-generated output.
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals, including keyword research, on-page optimization, metadata, internal linking, and content structure.
- Familiarity with generative search and an interest in how AI answer engines discover, summarize, and cite content.
- Strong range and versatility, with the ability to move between a 15-second radio spot, a 1,500-word blog post, and a headline in the same day.
- Ability to write for different audiences, brands, tones, and stages of the customer journey.
- Comfort writing from a creative brief, receiving feedback, and turning revisions around quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, originality, and responsible AI use.
- Awareness of current marketing, search, content, and social media trends.
- Familiarity with content management systems and analytics tools such as WordPress, HubSpot, GA4, Google Search Console, or equivalent platforms.
- High level of service, collaboration, and responsiveness with internal and external partners.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Three or more years of professional copywriting experience in an agency, in-house marketing team, or similar environment.
- Demonstrated experience writing SEO-optimized web content, with results or examples that can be discussed.
- Hands-on experience integrating AI tools into a professional content-production workflow.
- Experience writing for education, technology, schools, families, or business-to-business audiences is preferred but not required.
