Job summary

JTI is seeking a Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager to anticipate changes in the operating environment and craft strategies that minimize commercial risk while securing competitive advantage. You will manage public relations, government relations, and stakeholder engagements with market Excom, HQ, NGOs, and industry groups.

  • University degree or above in a relevant field; majors include Politics, Law, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration or Finance.
  • Experience in corporate affairs, external affairs or government relations in a multinational or influential local company.
  • Proven ability to anticipate environment changes and execute strategy to shape change.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of political, regulatory and media engagement strategies.
  • Direct PR and government relations activities in the market and with HQ.

Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager
As the CA&C Manager in the area of Corporate Affairs & Communications, you will:
  • Anticipate changes in the company's Operating Environment which create commercial risk and competitive opportunity.
  • Ensure anticipated changes, risks and opportunities are communicated in a timely approach to the General Manager and the market Excom.
  • Develop, in partnership with the market Excom and functional counterparts, strategies and programs through which the Operating Environment will be shaped to minimize commercial risk and secure competitive advantage in a responsible, proactive manner.
  • Engage with functional counterparts in the market and in JTI HQ to develop or adapt JTI views and positions regarding public issues which have significant impact on the company's Operating Environment.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of political, regulatory and media engagement strategies to ensure that the company's positions and views are presented in a timely, effective and consistent manner.
  • Establish clear performance criteria and objectives for all Public Relations and Government Relations consultants engaged by the company in the market.
  • Ensure that PR and GR strategies are aligned with the company's business goals and performance objectives.
  • Ensure that all programs are assessed, against, agreed performance criteria and objectives and are in line with the JTI Code of Conduct.
Handle the Below Key Projects:
  • Illicit Strategy & Planning
  • Excise tax strategy development
  • Stakeholder engagements (NGO, Chamber, Myanmar Tobacco Association)
  • Regulatory Engagement (MIC, MOC, MOH, MOFR)
Requirements:
  • University graduate or above, Major in Politics Law, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent
  • 3+ years in Corporate Affairs / External Affairs / Government Relations in a multi-national or influential local company
  • Or 5+ years in Commercial Strategy / Business Development / Management Consulting
  • Proven track record in anticipating change in the Operating Environment and executing strategies and programs to shape change
  • Experience in commercial affairs, corporate affairs, or both
  • Proficiency in Government Relations and Media Relations, with solid communication skills considered a valuable asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong influence and leadership capabilities, teamwork orientation, and exposure to one or more developed markets in Asia is highly desirable
  • Industrial experience is an advantage, along with a strong understanding of regulatory, trade, and tax environments, as well as broader industry dynamics.
