A company driver is responsible for transporting goods, employees, or executives for a business while ensuring safety, punctuality, and proper maintenance of the vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Transporting goods, employees, or clients in accordance with the company’s requirements and safety guidelines.
- Ensure timely arrival at destinations, considering factors such as traffic and weather conditions.
- Perform regular checks and maintenance on the vehicle to ensure its safety and efficiency, and report any mechanical issues and coordinate repairs as necessary.
- Follow all road safety rules and regulations; ensure the vehicle is in compliance with local and national regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance logs, and record delivery or travel details and any incidents or delays.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous driving experience, particularly in a professional or commercial setting, is preferred.
- Must hold a valid, clean driver’s license with the appropriate class for the vehicle being driven; possess any necessary certifications or endorsements (e.g., commercial driver’s license, if applicable).
- No major traffic violations or accidents on the driving record.
- Knowledge of local routes and familiarity with the local area, roads, and traffic patterns.
- Physical fitness to lift and carry packages (if the role involves deliveries) and to sit and drive for long periods.
