Job summary

Conautic Group seeks a Chief Engineer to oversee all engineering aspects aboard vessels, including repair, maintenance, and the safe operation of main propulsion, water making, electrical systems, and deck machinery.

The role requires extensive knowledge of spare parts inventories and ordering for long voyages, and the holder will command the engineering crew, especially during maneuvers or emergencies inside the engine room.

• Proven leadership of a crew and ability to manage inventories.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all engineering aspects of the ship, including repair, maintenance, safe operation, and efficacy of main propulsion systems, water making equipment, electrical systems, and deck machinery.
• Oversee inventory for voyages and ordering/collecting supplies.
• Command the engineering crew and take charge during maneuvers or emergencies, including operation inside the engine room.
• Travel across the world to work on merchant vessels, cruise liners, fishing trawlers, oil rigs and more.

Job description

The Chief Engineer aboard a vessel, also called “Chief” or “The Chief,” is responsible for supervising all the engineering aspects of the ship including the repair, maintenance, safe operation, and efficacy of all the main propulsion systems, water making equipment, electrical appliances, and the deck equipment. This maritime job will also require extensive knowledge of the inventory needed for any length voyage and you will be in charge of ordering and collecting these necessary supplies. The Chief Engineer is in charge of the entire engineering crew, and is a vital crew member during any maneuver or emergency, where he must be inside the engine room and in charge.

This maritime position will see you working in various locations across the world, mostly on merchant vessels, but also on cruise liners, fishing trawlers, oil rigs and more.
