A cashier is responsible for handling customer transactions, processing payments, and providing excellent customer service in a retail or service environment. Cashiers are responsible for accurately scanning or entering product prices, collecting payments, issuing receipts, and sometimes bagging items. They must also ensure the cash register is balanced and that any discrepancies are addressed.
Key Responsibilities:

- Scan or input product information and process transactions.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card payments.
- Issue receipts and change as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
- Answer customer inquiries and resolve issues in a professional manner.
- Ensure the cash register is balanced at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Monitor and report any suspicious activity or theft.
- Assist with restocking items or cleaning duties when required.
- Follow store policies and procedures regarding returns, exchanges, and promotions.
