Job summary

The successful candidate will also assist with front-line support, process balancing, and compliance with bank policies.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Branch Operations Officer - MKJ

Role Purpose

Product Control (PC) is a critical support function to the Markets and Securities Services (MSS) and Markets Treasury (MKTY) businesses. It provides independent control and assurance of financials, product expertise, commercial insight and guidance to the business and other related support functions. The role sits within a team that performs PC processes and deliverables supporting the Hong Kong Global Credit & Financing business, with a focus on quality, performance, and process design, to ultimately protect the quality of the bank’s financial statements. The role requires an understanding of key Profit & Loss (P&L) drivers and controls, and assisting in detection of inappropriate trading activity.

Principal Accountabilities

Cash Operations

Responsible for branch cash requirements and operations covering the following tasks:

• Handles clients with large transactions for counting.
• Validates all vouchers posted by branch staff.
• Approves transactions within set limits.
• Performs daily balancing and safekeeping of security items.
• Evaluate correctness / acceptability of all payment requests, taking into consideration various cut-off times set, prior to forwarding to DBS for final processing.
• Processes daily clearing items of the branches and ensures that this meets the clearing cut-off time.
• Handles branch reports such as but not limited to DST/FIN requirements of the branch.
• Processes EasyPay Machine deposit and payments posting and reporting
• Ensures Easy Pay machines (frontend) are in good condition and handles queries related to EasyPay machines
• Handles ATM/MFM balancing, ensuring that machines are operational at all times to service customer needs..
• Support month-end close activities

Back-office and administrative functions

• Support frontline colleagues to deliver service to customers at first point of contact through the reduction of operational requirements. Provide guidance on transactions and ensure that all work is processed in accordance with the established and documented procedures.
• Processes departmental balancing/branch administrative items (such as, but not limited to, supplies requisition, branch related payments, records management, branch displays and collaterals, upkeep of branch premises, alarm testing, SDB (forced open) custodianship and reconciliation, etc). Relieves other staff when requested
• Promotes the utilisation of other available delivery channels such as Phone Banking, Internet Banking, Easy Pay Machines and ATM/MFM machines, whenever appropriate, in order to minimise traffic in the banking hall. Keeps abreast with products, services, and promos of the bank to effectively support branch operations.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Customer Service Manager.

Compliance

• Adhere to regulatory compliance standards and bank policies and procedures. Safeguard the bank from potential losses by strictly adhering to audit recommendations and BIM requirements. Manages operational risk, including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.
• Implements the Group Compliance policy locally by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
• Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
