A Rheumatology clinic is seeking a reliable and flexible Bilingual Medical Biller & Administrative Virtual Assistant to support both billing operations and day‑to‑day clinic administrative tasks. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional with a medical background who can handle billing responsibilities independently while also assisting with essential front‑office duties such as scheduling, phone calls, and insurance coordination.
The primary responsibility is medical billing, but the role requires flexibility to step into general administrative work when needed. This is a 30‑hour per week remote role supporting a rheumatology practice.
Support the clinic’s billing workflow with tasks such as claim preparation, basic coding assistance, payment posting, and claim status checks.
Assist in correcting and resubmitting denied or rejected claims with guidance from the main biller.
Perform insurance verification and eligibility checks as needed for billing‑related tasks.
Provide reliable coverage for billing responsibilities during the main biller’s vacation or time off, following established processes.
Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in alignment with HIPAA and BAA standards.
Assist Spanish‑speaking patients with appointment scheduling, reminders, and general inquiries.
Handle inbound and outbound calls, supporting both English and Spanish communication needs.
Assist with insurance verification, benefits checks, and prior authorization coordination.
Support general administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations (email handling, patient follow‑ups, message routing).
Help maintain an organized workflow by collaborating with the clinic’s internal team.
Medical background (mandatory) through education, certification, or hands‑on clinical/administrative experience.
Proven experience in medical billing with exposure to end‑to‑end billing processes.
Strong administrative background in a U.S. healthcare or medical office setting.
Bilingual (English + Spanish) with clear and professional communication skills.
Experience in appointment scheduling and handling patient calls.
Ability to work independently with accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Comfortable multitasking and supporting both billing and admin functions.
A degree, diploma, certification, or practical experience in a medical or healthcare‑related field.
Familiarity with rheumatology or specialty‑care workflows.
Previous experience supporting a U.S. clinician or medical practice remotely.
Strong proficiency with EMR/EHR systems commonly used in medical billing.
Experience with billing platforms used for claims submission, coding, and payment posting.
Stable internet connection, reliable equipment, and a quiet workspace.
Willingness to comply with HIPAA and BAA guidelines (covered in the contract).
