Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a backhoe loader (and/or similar heavy earth-moving equipment) to perform excavation, trenching, loading, back‑filling, grading, and material handling.
- Conduct pre‑operation checks and daily inspections of equipment for safety, fluid levels, wear, and operational readiness.
- Perform routine maintenance of the equipment: cleaning, lubrication, minor repairs, reporting mechanical issues.
- Work safely, following all on‑site safety rules, utility marking/clearance, avoiding hazards, coordinating with crew members.
- Maintain the work area: collect scrap/excess materials, unload/load materials, keep site tidy.
- Complete required documentation or reports (e.g., daily equipment log, maintenance report).
- Assist in other tasks as needed, including collaborating with other workers, possibly switching machines if required.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent (or vocational certificate) minimum.
- Valid driver’s licence (if required by company) and relevant heavy equipment operator certification (e.g., NC II or COE) preferred/required.
- Prior experience operating a backhoe loader (often 1‑2 years or more) in a construction/excavation environment.
- Good hand‑eye coordination, ability to operate machinery precisely, physically fit for the demands of heavy equipment operation skills.
- Willingness to work outdoors, in different project sites, possibly overtime or shift work.
- Strong safety awareness, ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
