Join us as an AutoCAD Drafter, supporting our client, an established Australian commercial fit-out and joinery manufacturer delivering projects across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. With joinery factories in Carrara QLD and Smeaton Grange NSW, our client takes projects from defit through to handover under one contract and manufactures its joinery in-house. You’ll turn site data and project information into accurate, build-ready drawings for hospitality, retail, office, medical and education projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR AN AUTOCAD DRAFTER
Your Responsibilities as an AutoCAD Drafter:
- Pull site measurements from point cloud scans using Autodesk ReCap and produce accurate set-out plans the team can build to.
- Prepare joinery and commercial fit-out shop drawings in AutoCAD, including plans, elevations, sections and details.
- Run the Change of Plans Update process on every new revision, using Bluebeam Revu overlay/compare to identify changes.
- Communicate drawing changes to affected team members and the relevant Project Manager.
- Take drawings through approval with builders and architects, then hand approved drawings to the Microvellum team.
- Maintain the drawing register and ensure nothing is built from a superseded revision.
- Manage drawing requirements across several jobs at once while keeping revisions accurate and under control.
Qualifications as an AutoCAD Drafter:
- A portfolio of shop drawings for joinery, shopfitting or commercial fit-out projects that were built.
- Advanced AutoCAD skills, including xrefs, paper space, dimension styles and sheet sets.
- Strong Bluebeam Revu capability, including markups, overlay and compare.
- Experience extracting measurements from point cloud data using Autodesk ReCap or similar software.
- A practical understanding of how joinery is made and installed, including board sizes, thicknesses, hardware and tolerances.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and maintain disciplined revision control.
- Clear communication and strong attention to detail when coordinating with Project Managers, builders, architects and production teams.
What Success Looks Like:
- Set-out plans and shop drawings are accurate, complete and suitable for manufacture and installation.
- Drawing revisions are identified, communicated and recorded promptly through the Change of Plans Update process.
- The drawing register remains current and production teams work only from the latest approved revision.
- Drawings move efficiently through builder and architect approval and are handed over cleanly to the Microvellum team.
- Multiple active jobs are managed reliably without losing control of revisions, details or deadlines.
What We Offer:
- Stable, long-term full-time role supporting an established Australian commercial fit-out and joinery manufacturer.
- Varied project exposure across hospitality, gaming venues, retail, office, medical and education.
- Direct connection between your drawings and in-house manufacturing, with the opportunity to work closely with the people building the joinery.
- A structured revision process and a Microvellum team working from your approved drawings.
