Job summary

Maersk is a global leader in integrated logistics seeking an Accounting Operations professional to support Europe region reporting from our Pasig office. The role covers accounting to reporting, month-end close, balance sheet review, and internal control coordination to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with process owners, support finance platform migrations, and report to the Area Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or equivalent.
• Overall 5 to 6 years of accounting experience.
• Experience from accounting to reporting.
• Knowledge of accounts receivable/payable is a plus.
• Willing to work night shift.
• Willing to work overtime during closing.
• Analytical mindset with strong communication to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly balance sheet review for Europe region with substantiation.
• Conduct financial statement analysis and coordinate with process owners to consolidate information.
• Coordinate internal control attestation with relevant performers.
• Oversee transition project management activities and finance platform migrations.
• Support reporting on operational results and driving process improvements.
• Ensure accurate accounting close and compliance within deadlines.

Job Description

• Accounting Operations includes accounting operations roles involved in overseeing the day-to-day financial transactions with accuracy and in compliance with regulations, accounting principles and standards.
• Covers general accounting, cost accounting (allocating and analyzing direct and indirect costs, actual vs. budgeted cost variance analysis, etc.), and budget accounting (developing and monitoring annual revenue/expense budgets for the purpose of controlling funds and measuring operating results), as deemed appropriate for the handled entity.
• Also covers accounts payable / accounts receivable review whenever relevant to balance reconciliation and open items management.
• Professional stream includes those who are individual contributors with main emphasis on applying technical/discipline knowledge rather than managing people to achieve results – although coaching/mentoring less experienced staff, informal supervisory responsibilities, or overseeing work of other lower-level professionals or manage processes and program are common.
• Individual work ranges from setting objectives and delivering on own work responsibilities to being a leading expert within a given field and influencing long term tactical decisions of the organization.
• Progression within this stream reflects increasing depth of professional knowledge, project management capability, and the ability to influence others.
• A colleague at this level works independently within defined boundaries and guidelines in a specific area but will need supervision and support on more complex tasks. Knowledge is required for the application of practical methods and techniques, work procedures and processes.
• The job requires previous work experience in a related area, or practical knowledge obtained via advanced education.
• Will be handling more complex entity.
• Perform monthly balance sheet review for in-scope entities in Europe region, including verifying accuracy and substantiation of all relevant accounts, and implementing appropriate action points in case of deviation from acceptable accounting principles.
• Conduct financial statement analysis, coordinate with various process owners to consolidate specific accounting and tax information (as necessary), and provide reports on operational result.
• Coordinate internal control attestation with relevant control performers.
• Transition project management activities, finance platform migration management activities.
• Transition project and new platform migration project go-live successful.
• The position will primarily report to and support Area Accounting Manager or Area Head ATR and Financial Controlling.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or equivalent
• Overall 5 to 6 years experience
• Highly analytical, adaptable and agile
• Handled accounting to reporting in the past
• Knowledge in accounts receivable and accounts payable processes is an advantage, but not required
• Willing to work on a night shift schedule
• Willing to work overtime during closing whenever the business needs
• An analytical mind that is able to link/ relate to and analyze information
• Good stakeholder management and communication skills
