Divisional Overview:

The Group Resilience function provides the regulatory and internally driven policy, procedures and frameworks for the risk assessment and management of Business Continuity Management & Third-Party Risk Management, Operational Resilience, Recovery & Resolution Plan and Booking Governance. This allows Nomura to meet its Regulatory obligations.

Business Overview:

To deliver the firm’s Resilience Objectives, the Business Resilience department performs the following core activities in relation to Third Party Risk and Business Continuity mandate:

  • Implementing Regional and Global Framework
  • Assessing and Meeting Regulatory Policy requirements and determining course of action
  • Advising Senior Management on regulatory expectations, industry approaches and our alignment or justifying differences in approach.
  • Scenario planning and exercises conducted to rehearse crisis response
  • Safeguard Nomura’s People, Process and Infrastructure
  • Validation of exit strategies under stressed conditions for critical dependencies

Role & Responsibilities:

Report to the Business Resilience (BR) VP role in India in supporting all the region (Japan, Powai, EMEA, Americas and AEJ). Responsibilities and activities across Business Continuity Management (BCM).

1. BCM Framework & Policy

  • Periodically review and update BCM documentation

2. Business Impact Analysis (BIA) & Risk Assessment

  • Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) across functions
  • Identify critical processes, dependencies, and recovery priorities
  • Perform risk assessments related to business disruptions

3. Continuity Planning

  • Develop and maintain Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans
  • Ensure plans are comprehensive, practical, and up to date
  • Coordinate with IT, operations, and business teams
  • Plan and execute BCM drills, tabletop exercises, and simulations
  • Evaluate effectiveness of plans and identify gaps
  • Track remediation actions and improvements
  • Coordinate response activities and communication
  • Document incidents and lessons learned
  • Conduct BCM awareness sessions across the organization
  • Train business units on their roles and responsibilities
  • Promote a culture of resilience

7. Reporting & Governance

  • Prepare BCM dashboards and reports for senior management
  • Track key risk indicators (KRIs) and BCM metrics
  • Support audits and regulatory reviews

8. Third-Party Risk (Optional but recommended)

  • Assess business continuity capabilities of critical vendors
  • Ensure third-party resilience aligns with organizational standards
