Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Financial Analyst to support reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the Manila business unit, coordinating with Chicago and other locations. The role focuses on delivering accurate financial insights, budgeting support, and process improvements to drive performance.

The candidate should have 3–6 years of relevant FP&A experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in Office 365 and finance systems; CPA is a plus. Working hours are 5AM–2PM Manila time.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis or related areas.
  • CPA is a plus but not required.
  • Proficient in financial reporting and analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting processes including forecasting, variance analysis, and management reports.
  • Support annual planning and budgeting with timely, accurate input and recommendations.
  • Assist in invoicing, cost chargebacks, and month-end closing activities.
  • Collaborate with Manila and other locations to meet financial goals.
  • Identify process improvements and develop key financial metrics for stakeholders.

Overview

The Financial Analyst to support the business unit with various level of periodic reporting and analysis including, but not limited to, expense analysis, forecasting, variance analysis, invoices submission, monthly close processes, and other ad hoc tasks. The financial analyst will work closely and frequently with partners based both in Manila and other locations, particularly Chicago, to ensure the financial goals of the business unit and of Northern Trust are met.

Major Duties
  • Perform monthly/quarterly reporting processes which involve, but not limited to, forecasting, P&L variance analysis, and preparation of various reports and presentations to the management focusing on key business factors driving financial performance, as well as supplement reports needed by business partners.
  • Assist in annual planning which includes, but not limited to, supporting the business unit for the preparation, timeliness and integrity of the annual budget and proactively providing sound and valuable recommendations to stakeholders that would impact key business decisions
  • Assist in the submission of invoices as requested by business partners, processing of cost chargebacks, and assist in the month-end close process including, but not limited to, reclassifications and adjustment entries.
  • Develop strong relationships and closely coordinate with both partners in Manila and other locations in carrying the identified responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the Team Leader and the Manager in identifying process improvements to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the team and in developing financial/business metrics that are vital to stakeholders' decision-making.
  • Participate in other special projects and ad hoc requirements.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate financial results.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to present relevant information to the Senior Management group and to various stakeholders
  • Relevant experience in Financial and Accounting processes is preferred
  • Proficiency with Office 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneDrive, and Teams, to efficiently perform analyses and communicate financial information to various stakeholders
  • Knowledgeable in PeopleSoft, HFM, TM1/Cognos, and other similar systems used in financial reporting, planning and analysis
  • Experience with business intelligence analytical tools required to interpret data, perform analyses and communicate financial information to various constituents. Knowledge and experience in Power BI reporting is a plus
  • Flexible and a team player
  • Ability to work effectively and build relationships in a geographically-blended environment
Experience Required
  • CPA a plus but not required.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury, Project Analysis, and other relevant functional areas which may cover Accounting, Financial, Management & Statutory Reporting and other Accounting and Finance-related areas.
  • Industry knowledge is beneficial.
