Job summary

Restaurant Supply Co. is seeking a Backend Engineer to build scalable PHP/Symfony services, APIs, and internal tooling in an AI-enabled environment. You will design and implement robust backend systems while focusing on performance and reliability.

Responsibilities include API design, integration work, and applying AI tooling to accelerate development. You will collaborate with QA and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality software with strong ownership and security focus.

Qualifications

• Proficient in PHP and Symfony for backend services.
• Strong database management and query optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD and multiple environments.
• Architectural design and scalable systems.
• Building low-latency, efficient backend services.
• Experience with API design and integrations.
• Proficient in debugging and automated testing.
• Familiar with AI coding tools for development.
• Ability to work independently with ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable PHP/Symfony backend services.
• Develop reliable APIs, workers, batch jobs, and integrations.
• Improve performance, latency, throughput, and resource use.
• Decide on data flow, queues, caching, and service boundaries.
• Produce clean, maintainable, tested code.
• Diagnose production issues across code, DBs, queues, logs, and external services.
• Leverage AI tools to speed development, testing and refactoring.
• Review AI-generated code for quality and security.
• Collaborate with QA and other engineers to deliver reliability.
• Take on other duties as assigned.
