Job summary

Amentum seeks an Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Manager to oversee AGE operations, maintenance, and personnel for a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will supervise AGE assets, ensure readiness, and uphold safety policies across all maintenance activities.

Ideal candidates have at least five years of supervisory aviation maintenance experience, strong mechanical and electrical systems knowledge, and the ability to interpret technical materials. International travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience in aviation maintenance with a focus on AGE.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, engines, refrigeration, electrical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints and maintenance manuals.
  • Passport valid and ability to travel internationally.
  • English proficiency to perform contract requirements and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise inspection, maintenance, overhaul, repair and modification activities for AGE to ensure readiness.
  • Lead AGE personnel including technicians, supervisors and support staff.
  • Oversee daily AGE operations ensuring compliance with directives and safety standards.
  • Develop schedules and work plans for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Mentor staff to enhance technical capabilities and operational knowledge.
  • Interface with other departments, contractors and leadership on AGE operations.

Amentum is seeking an Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Manager to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. TheAGE Manageris responsible for overseeing all operations, maintenance, and personnel associated with Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE). This individual provides supervision and leadership to ensure all AGE assets are operational, maintained to the highest standards, and compliant with safety protocols and directives. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing and supervisinginspection, maintenance, overhaul, repair, and modification activitiesfor AGE systems and equipment to ensure optimal operational readiness.
  • Providing leadership and direction to AGE personnel, including technicians, supervisors, and support staff.
  • Overseeing daily operations involving the use of AGE assets and ensuring compliance with applicable maintenance directives, policies, and safety standards.
  • Developing schedules and work plans for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Monitoring team performance and productivity, ensuring adherence to deadlines, high-quality workmanship, and safety protocols.
  • Ensuring knowledge and application of mechanical principles,pneumatics, hydraulics, internal combustion engines (gasoline and diesel), refrigeration, heating systems, and electrical and electronic systems.
  • Interpreting and applying technical materials, includingwiring and schematic diagrams, manuals, blueprints, and maintenance publications.
  • Handling the properuse, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials, ensuring strict environmental compliance.
  • Maintaining detailed records of equipment inspections, repairs, and reports, ensuring accuracy in all documentation.
  • Providing training and mentorship to staff members to enhance technical capabilities and operational knowledge.
  • Acting as the primary liaison with other departments, contractors, and leadership regarding AGE operations and maintenance.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and occupational safety standards.
  • Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diplomais required (higher education is preferred).
  • At leastfive (5) years of supervisory experiencein aviation maintenance with a focus on maintaining Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE).
  • Extensive knowledge ofmechanical principles/systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, heating, refrigeration, gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines, and electrical and electronic pressure systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting technical materials, such asschematic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • In-depth understanding of maintenance directives and regulatory requirements for handling, using, and disposing of hazardous waste and materials.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with experience in workforce management and project execution.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and environmental regulations applicable to AGE operations.
  • Must be in possession of avalid passportand able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum ofone yearat the time of hire.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain all related compliance requirements for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as OSHA safety certifications or other professional qualifications related to maintenance oversight.
  • Prior military experience managing AGE systems and teams.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy or DoD maintenance standards and requirements.
  • Experience working in austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environments or remote locations.
  • Advanced familiarity with maintenance management software and tools.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
