Job description

Job Description:

About Us

Appnovation is a global, full-service digital partner that combines Strategy, Experience & Design, Engineering and Managed Services. We build digital solutions that deliver real impact today and serve as foundations for future growth. Bold ambition. Practical action. Endless possibilities.

We seek an experienced AEM Developer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of a robust, scalable library of reusable components. This role focuses on creating modular and flexible AEM components that enhance content reusability, support brand consistency, and streamline AEM implementation across multiple projects. You will collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, front-end developers, and other engineering team members to deliver a flexible, user-friendly component library.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), with deep expertise in AEM 6.5 architecture, Sling, OSGi, and JCR.
  • Strong proficiency in Java development and associated frameworks, alongside HTL (Sightly), Sling Models, and AEM Core Components.
  • Advanced front-end development skills (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript) with experience in responsive design and modern frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Experience with AEM customization, including the use of APIs, extension points, and development of templates, workflows, and integrations.
  • Knowledge of AEM Schemas, metadata management, and ACLs for robust content security and structure.
  • Hands‑on experience with GraphQL, REST APIs, and headless CMS architectures to support dynamic data and modern web applications.
  • Proven integration skills with external systems such as CRM, marketing automation platforms, and third‑party APIs.
  • Proficiency in version control using Git and expert repository management practices.
  • Familiarity with AEM Dispatcher configuration, deployment automation, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills for efficient issue resolution in complex environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban).
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of reusable, customizable AEM components, templates, and complex workflows.
  • Execute end‑to‑end AEM architecture tasks including content modeling, Sling/OSGi development, and deployment management.
  • Customize AEM functionality using available APIs and extension points to meet specific business requirements.
  • Implement and maintain AEM Schemas and Metadata ACLs to ensure data integrity and secure content access.
  • Develop responsive, front‑end heavy components that align with design systems in Figma and support modern frameworks (React/Angular).
  • Integrate AEM with external ecosystems including CRM and marketing tools using REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Optimize AEM performance through efficient ClientLibs management, Dispatcher configuration, and caching strategies.
  • Manage code repositories and version control workflows using Git to ensure smooth CI/CD processes.
  • Conduct thorough debugging and performance tuning to resolve technical bottlenecks and ensure system stability.
  • Collaborate actively in Agile rituals, providing technical leadership and ensuring clear communication across cross‑functional teams.
Who You Are
  • You think about how to scale, automate and operate, not just how to build a solution to an immediate problem.
  • You set high standards for code quality, performance/scalability and security and seek continuous improvement
  • You have led a team of junior developers and coached them
  • You have solid analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • You have experience doing SDLC and Architecture documentation
  • You engage and build positive internal and external client relationships, while managing multiple initiatives, often with competing priorities
  • You have strong self‑initiative, passion, interpersonal, oral and written communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work, influence and make an impact in a cross‑functional environment with all levels of the organization
  • You are responsive and thrive in a fast‑paced diverse high‑performance environment with rapidly changing business needs
  • You actively seek out things outside your comfort zone with the ability to rapidly learn and take advantage of new concepts, business models, and technologies
  • You have prior experience in consulting
  • Prior experience and connections in the Life Sciences industry are preferred
