Job Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the implementation and observance of accounting policies and procedures including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and compliance to statutory requirements. Is also responsible for the preparation, reconciliation and analysis of timely and accurate financial statements of the company. Ensures timely and accurate reporting of government statutory reports and remittances.

1. Development of the Finance Department
  • Implements all Accounting programs and monitors their administration in accordance with the established standards and procedures; maintains accounting principle, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for financial reporting
  • Reviews and evaluates all Accounting policies, programs, and practices and their implementation; revises these when necessary or proposes new ones
  • Assists in the development of department objectives, goals and systems and establishes departmental measurements or KPIs that support the accomplishment of the strategic goals of the company; ensures that departmental objectives and goals are met
  • Supports on-going staff development by analyzing performance gaps to determine their training needs and creates individual development plans based on these; conducts training and/or orientation to the staff as planned
  • Recommends personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharge and disciplinary measures and evaluates work performance of employees under supervision through performance discussions and appraisal reviews; submits the accomplished Performance Appraisal Review Form (PARF) to the AVP for Finance as prescribed ensuring compliance to the performance management system
  • Manages own work performance by participating in performance discussions and appraisal reviews; follows through action plans agreed upon during said discussions and reviews
  • Learns by actively pursuing self-development on an on-going basis both technically and personally; takes advantage of learning opportunities such as assignments, projects, workshops, etc.
  • Stays up to date with industry trends by researching/monitoring new methodologies, tools and techniques; determines their applicability and recommends appropriately
  • Supports budget and forecasting activities of Finance; recommends cost saving measures to meet financial objectives
  • Participates in management committee, department or coordination meetings, walk-throughs, site visits, workshops, seminars or certifications as required by the company or profession
2. Accounting Process
  • Ensures that appropriate internal controls are performed
  • Oversees account reconciliations pertaining to banks, accounts receivable, liabilities, revenues, and expenses to ensure transactions are properly recorded and funds are safeguarded
  • Ensures that proper reconciliation of taxes are being done quarterly
  • Reviews accounts payables by verifying check amounts against invoices, delivery receipts, etc.
  • Ensures that cash advances and charge slips are monitored, liquidated and reimbursed on time
  • Ensures that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate
  • Participates in the review of payroll, SIL, 13th month pay and tax refund
  • Coordinates the preparation and recording of Billing Statements and collections with Finance
  • Ensures that government regulatory taxes are reported and paid on time
  • Approves ledger and journal entries by auditing transactions, identifies variances and implements corrective actions
  • Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closing of books
  • Ensures the timely reporting and distribution of financial reports following established policies and procedures
3. Documentation and Records Management
  • Ensures documentation and records management of all Accounting policies, programs and practices
