Manila Cookie Story, Inc. is seeking an Accounting and Cost Analyst to provide accounting, financial and cost analysis to support decision-making, budgeting, and reporting. The role focuses on product costing, gross margins, inventory, and variance analysis across departments.
You will prepare management reports, review journal entries, perform reconciliations, and assist in cost of sales analysis. Collaboration with Finance, Purchasing, Operations, and Sales is essential to ensure accurate data
The Accounting and Cost Analyst is responsible for providing accounting, financial, and cost analysis to support management decision-making, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability objectives.
The position focuses on product costing, cost of sales, inventory, gross margins, budget-to-actual analysis, and financial performance. The Analyst will review accounting information, prepare financial and management reports, analyze cost and financial variances, and assist in improving accounting and costing processes.
The position will work closely with the Senior Accountant, Junior Accountant, Accounting Assistant, Purchasing, Operations, Sales, and other departments to ensure the accuracy and reliability of accounting, inventory, and costing information.
Record and review accounting transactions in the accounting system/QuickBooks Online.
Assist in maintaining accurate and complete general ledger accounts.
Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and other adjusting entries.
Ensure that transactions are properly supported by invoices, receipts, payment requests, and other required documents.
Assist in maintaining organized and complete accounting records and supporting schedules.
Perform reconciliations of accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, advances, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
Investigate unusual or outstanding balances and coordinate with concerned departments for resolution.
Maintain reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.
Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Prepare schedules and supporting analyses for the monthly closing process.
Perform actual-versus-budget and actual-versus-forecast variance analysis.
Identify significant variances, unusual movements, and trends in financial data.
Assist in preparing management reports and financial presentations as required.
Provide relevant financial data and analysis to support management decision-making.
Monitor accounts payable transactions and ensure proper recording and supporting documentation.
Assist in monitoring supplier balances and outstanding invoices.
Review accounts receivable balances and assist in monitoring collections and overdue accounts.
Reconcile customer and supplier accounts when necessary.
Coordinate with the Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and other departments regarding accounting-related discrepancies.
Assist in monitoring inventory transactions and balances.
Reconcile inventory records between the accounting system and supporting operational records.
Assist in analyzing inventory movements, adjustments, variances, and write-offs.
Support the preparation and review of cost of sales and inventory-related schedules.
Assist in investigating inventory discrepancies and unusual movements.
Assist in the timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities.
Prepare assigned closing schedules and account reconciliations.
Ensure that outstanding accounting items are identified and resolved promptly.
Support the preparation of audit schedules and documents required by external auditors.
Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Assist in identifying control weaknesses, process gaps, and recurring accounting issues.
Recommend improvements to accounting processes, reporting, and documentation.
Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports requested by management.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Support accounting and finance projects, system improvements, and other special assignments.
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, or a related field.
2–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, or a related role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and other financial analysis functions.
Experience with QuickBooks Online or other accounting/ERP systems.
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Knowledge of product costing, inventory accounting, COGS, and gross margin analysis.
Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools is an advantage.
