Job summary

MERKUR Excellence, part of the MERKUR GROUP, is seeking a Technical Artist (m/f/d) for our new Vienna studio. You will translate creative visions into high-quality, performant game elements in Godot and contribute to shaders, scripts, and assets.

You will work with art, design, and development teams to optimize graphics, create animations and prototypes, and document your processes. Proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects, Spine, and Godot/Unity is expected, with strong English and German being

Qualifications

• Several years of professional experience as a Technical Artist or in a comparable role, ideally within the gaming industry.
• Strong skills in Photoshop, After Effects, and Spine; practical experience with Godot or Unity is highly desirable.
• Creative mindset combined with strong technical understanding and a solution-oriented approach to complex technical challenges.
• Open to AI-assisted processes and technology induced change of work style and patterns.
• Very good English skills, both spoken and written; German is a plus.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly at the interface between art, game design, and development

We’re looking for a Technical Artist (m/f/d) for our new Viennese studio. The ideal candidate combines a strong eye for detail with sound technical expertise and knows how to translate creative visions into high-quality, performant solutions in game development.

Your responsibilities

• As a Technical Artist, you independently implement and optimize graphical game elements in Godot to ensure a smooth and high-performance player experience.
• In addition, you translate design ideas into technical solutions and integrate creative concepts into functional game systems.
• Moreover, you create animations, 3D models, and prototypes for our games and implement them in Godot using customized shaders and scripts where required.
