Job summary

Jobgether SRL, listed on behalf of a partner, seeks a Mobile Engineer - React Native based in Austria. You will develop a cross-platform React Native app for iOS and Android in a fully remote team environment.

You will work on messaging, voice/video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup, integrating peer-to-peer core APIs on-device while optimizing performance and ensuring privacy-focused user experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop cross-platform peer-to-peer mobile app features from implementation through testing and release.

• Connect UI to peer-to-peer core APIs on-device.
• Integrate push notifications, camera access, biometric auth, and background tasks.
• Profile and optimize startup time, chat sessions, media processing, battery, and network usage.
• Write unit and end-to-end tests; ensure reliability and prevent regressions.
• Support releases via CI, crash reporting, and debugging.
• Collaborate with product, design, and peer-to-peer engineering teams; promote code quality.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mobile Engineer - React Native based in Austria.

Join a fully remote engineering team building innovative peer-to-peer mobile technology for secure, decentralized communication. In this role, you will develop and enhance a cross-platform application for iOS and Android using React Native and Expo. You will work on features spanning messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup. Combining modern mobile development with an on-device peer-to-peer architecture, you will help deliver a seamless, reliable, and privacy-focused user experience. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and core technology teams to build high-quality features from concept to release. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced mobile engineer passionate about performance optimization, decentralized technologies, and shaping the future of digital communication.

Accountabilities

Develop and maintain a cross-platform peer-to-peer mobile application, taking ownership of features from implementation through testing and release. Ensure the application delivers a reliable, responsive, and secure experience across iOS and Android.

• Build, refine, and maintain features for messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup.

• Implement user interfaces and connect them to the peer-to-peer core APIs running directly on the device.

• Integrate native mobile capabilities, including push notifications, camera access, biometric authentication, and background tasks.

• Profile and optimize performance on real devices, focusing on application startup time, extended chat sessions, media processing, battery consumption, and network usage.

• Write and maintain unit and end-to-end tests to ensure application reliability and prevent regressions.

• Support stable releases through continuous integration workflows, crash reporting, and systematic debugging.

• Collaborate with product, design, and peer-to-peer engineering teams to deliver new features and improve the overall user experience.

• Participate in code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and maintain a high standard of code quality.

Requirements

Candidates should bring substantial experience in React Native development, strong JavaScript expertise, and a solid understanding of mobile application architecture and state management. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a remote environment, optimizing existing applications, and collaborating across technical disciplines.

• Significant professional experience with React Native and mobile application development.

• Strong experience with Redux for state management and Redux-Saga for handling asynchronous workflows.

• High proficiency in JavaScript, including ES6+ features and modern development practices.

• Experience integrating and working with WebSockets and RESTful APIs.

• Familiarity with mobile application performance optimization, debugging, and testing.

• Experience collaborating with distributed or fully remote engineering teams.

• An interest in modernizing, improving, and optimizing mobile or web applications.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

• Familiarity with native development languages such as Swift and Kotlin is an advantage.

• Experience with native development and build tools, including Xcode and Android Studio, is a plus.

• Experience building applications with peer-to-peer frameworks or working with decentralized technologies is a bonus.
