About the Opportunity

Our client, a respected values‑led and purpose‑driven organisation, with a deep commitment to improving outcomes for people and communities, is seeking an Assistant Company Secretary / Governance Officer to support the delivery of high‑quality governance, Board secretariat and compliance functions.

You will have a direct line of sight to meaningful work that supports positive social impact, partnership building and outcomes across the community.

This organisation works within a regulated environment and operates with a contemporary approach to governance, risk and compliance.

You will work closely with the Company Secretary and collaborate across a small and highly supportive team, assisting with Board papers, registers, compliance administration, and governance frameworks. This role offers hands‑on responsibility early, along with direct engagement with senior stakeholders including the Chair, Directors and Executive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with all governance and company secretarial functions, including administration of Board submissions and reporting, maintenance of registers, and meeting logistics.
  • Assist with Board and Committee minutes and actions registers.
  • Act as Systems Administrator for Convene board portal.
  • Assist with risk and compliance functions including maintenance of risk register, administration of all activity on the compliance register and compliance elements of investment operations.
  • Coordinate maintenance of policy and procedures, document control and policy compliance control testing.
  • Provide oversight of relevant legislative and regulatory changes and sector developments.
  • Conduct research, analyse and prepare briefing reports as required.
About You
  • Governance professionals with commensurate experience.
  • Experienced governance practitioners seeking meaningful part‑time, flexible or reduced‑hours arrangements.
  • The ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail skills.
  • Confidence engaging across internal stakeholders.
  • Exposure to Board or Committee processes.
  • A collaborative style, maturity, and good judgement.
  • Initiative, curiosity, problem‑solving skills and a sense of humour.
  • A current driver’s licence for occasional local site visits with team members.
  • Previous work in the corporate, not‑for‑profit, professional services or other regulated sectors (preferred).
