The role holder will be responsible for researching and analyzing data to support short and long-term sustainability goals as well as overseeing the implementation of sustainability practices in procurement operations. As a liaison with external authorities, the Sustainability Specialist will engage in green initiatives, energy‑saving programs, and sustainable practices, positioning ASMO as a leader in corporate sustainability.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Collaborate with various departments to research and review data related to short and long-term sustainability goals and projects.
- Analyse data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in sustainability practices.
- Act as a liaison between local sustainability groups or projects and the ASMO Procurement function.
- Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainable practices.
- Attend operations, construction, marketing, and other events to assess and report compliance with sustainability goals.
- Provide recommendations for enhancing sustainability practices based on event observations.
- Review and recommend sustainability practices in procurement operations.
- Ensure the effective implementation of sustainable procurement decisions and practices.
- Establish and monitor controls for energy, chemicals, utilities usage, recycling, and waste management in procurement operations.
- Provide recommendations for resource efficiency improvements.
- Oversee the development of a sustainability educational and teaching program for ASMO.
- Educate stakeholders on sustainable practices and promote awareness within the organization.
- Interact with external local authorities regarding Green initiatives, Energy saving, and sustainable programs.
- Stay informed about local regulations and initiatives related to sustainability.
- Recommend sustainable business choices and develop plans for evaluation and implementation.
- Implement strategies to continuously improve sustainability performance.
Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or equivalent from a recognized and accredited university is required.
- Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or equivalent from a recognized and accredited university is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English.
- 7 years’ experience in the same field.
