About the Company

Purpose of the Job

The senior RE works for the CCUS Solutions team under the Technology & Innovation (CDT) team. Key activities of the job are: implementation of PDO decarbonization strategy, maturing Block 6 PDO CCUS opportunities from identify to Select phase, HCM, resource reporting, contribute to reservoir studies that includes both analytical and reservoir simulation techniques for development of the identified storage and utilization of CO2 sites, short and long term production forecasting, In addition, the candidate will provide technical input to establishing a CCUS framework within the organization including RE capability requirements, documenting required guidelines and processes to support the company strategy and commitments. Design well and reservoir surveillance plan and plan data acquisition strategy. In addition to the above, support establishing the required RE CCUS capability for and any standards/guidelines to be developed.

Education & Experience
  • University degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent technical subject with a minimum of 10 years experience
  • Experience with Gas Storage Projects, Miscible Gas injection projects, CO2 injection projects
  • Technically strong in RE field with good all-around knowledge of other PE disciplines and significant operational experience.
  • Experience in running economic analysis, rolling up cost and production profiles for well picks and yearly business plans
  • Experience in analytical and numerical reservoir analysis techniques such as material balance, decline curve analysis, compositional/black oil reservoir simulation to evaluate the performance of the ongoing recovery mechanisms.
  • High degree of integration skill across both surface & subsurface for major project evaluation& implementation.
  • Effective communicator, ability to coach/mentor younger staff and ability to think beyond discipline.
  • Good leadership skills; experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and is a strong team player
Main Responsibilities
  • Perform reservoir engineering/compositional simulation and miscible/Immiscible CO2/Gas EOR studies to execute Field Development Plans along with primary development projects in the PDO HC fields and storage sites.
  • Perform reservoir analysis using analytical techniques and construct/history-match compositional reservoir simulation models for CCUS projects.
  • Manage key subsurface uncertainties for CCUS projects.
  • Construct / maintain dynamic simulation models as required to support FDP implementation, understanding of field performance and identifying new opportunities to bridge Storage and RF gap to TQ.
  • Maintain lifecycle hydrocarbon maturation strategy and plan for future development that include identification and maturation of CR CO2 Storage/Utilization opportunities.
  • Resource estimation and reporting (If required)
  • Provide input to annual programme build; update/ propose projects for your respective fields that includes production forecast (oil/water/gas production and CO2 injection), wells, capex including engagement with management / shareholders for approval / support.
  • Design, Define and implement comprehensive reservoir data acquisition and surveillance Strategy/plans to manage uncertainty in recovery/ processes.
  • Support required project level economic evaluation and provide input into the various annual business cycle forecasts.
  • To support the development of required training material and Mentor & coach engineers & graduates within the CCUS space.
  • Provide input to yearly Business Planning cycle with emphasis incorporating realistic production forecasts, project phasing and development costs. Provide economic analysis of BP scenarios as required.
  • Make a major technical contribution to PDO’s production growth.
  • Work with an integrated team of geoscientists and petroleum/production engineers to deliver quality dynamic reservoir modelling and studies to define future field (re)development opportunities and reserves potential.
  • Prepare field development plans and reserves submissions to shareholders.
  • As a senior reservoir engineer, ensure that reservoir engineering standards are maintained, and that best practices are implemented, in your own area of work and contribute into technical excellence across PDO. This will include participation in, and possibly leading, internal PDO project reviews (static and dynamic modelling reviews, internal VARs).
  • Sharing Reservoir Engineering best practices across PDO.
  • Coaching/mentoring of younger staff and feedback to team mates and leadership.
  • Ensure alignment between Asset and Exploration w.r.t. potential development concepts for new discoveries, appropriate Storage potential, RFs, and timing.
  • Embedding and adhering to Development Planning Processes in own organization.
  • RE input to generating and updating the Reservoir Management Plan.
  • Coaching/mentoring of younger staff and feedback to team‑mates and leadership.
