Job summary

AWASR is seeking a Security Governance Officer in Muscat to support the establishment and continuous improvement of security and privacy governance frameworks, policies, and procedures. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in information security, computer science, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in information security focused on governance or related internship/coursework.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (GDPR, ISO27001, NIST etc) and security best practices.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and enforcement of security and Personal Data Protection policies and standards across the organization.
• Communicate the security and privacy governance framework to senior management and stakeholders.
• Manage access control governance, including reviews and least-privilege access.
• Oversee visitor and physical access controls for secure areas.
• Conduct inspections of physical and environmental security controls.
• Respond to security incidents and personal data breaches per governance and incident management frameworks.
• Coordinate business continuity and emergency response activities.
• Promote security awareness initiatives across the organization.
• Maintain governance records and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure governance controls cover handling, storage, classification, retention, and disposal of Personal Data.
