Job Title: OT Network Engineer

Location: Mukhaizna, Oman – Onsite Only (No Remote Work)

Duration: 6 Weeks (21 Substation Sites) – Extendable

Start Date: Immediate / November 2025

Engagement: Freelance Contractor

This is your opportunity to step into a high-impact role within a major energy project in Oman. You’ll be responsible for commissioning and supporting a site-wide, redundant control network across multiple substations, ensuring seamless, secure, and reliable operations at the heart of the country’s energy system.

As an OT Network Engineer, you’ll be the onsite technical lead for the deployment and troubleshooting of industrial Ethernet networks supporting electrical control systems. Working closely with remote engineering experts, you’ll ensure all configurations, connections, and redundancies meet performance and safety standards.

This role suits someone hands‑on, self‑sufficient, and confident in fieldwork, ready to take ownership of critical commissioning tasks in a dynamic desert environment.

You Will:
  • Commission, configure, and troubleshoot redundant industrial networks across 21 substations.
  • Work extensively with Hirschmann switches, VLAN setup, RSTP, Layer 2/3 routing, and IP network design.
  • Manage firmware updates, configuration baselines, and redundancy testing.
  • Perform diagnostics on optical fibre installations and maintain detailed network documentation.
  • Collaborate with remote engineering teams to validate configurations and resolve complex issues.
  • Operate in a safety‑critical, desert‑based environment with professionalism and precision.
What You Bring:
  • Proven experience commissioning industrial Ethernet or OT networks in operational environments.
  • Hands‑on expertise with Hirschmann switches and network redundancy protocols.
  • Strong understanding of VLANs, RSTP, routing, and IP network design.
  • Experience with optical fibre troubleshooting and configuration management.
  • (Preferred) Knowledge of IEDs/protection relays in electrical systems.
  • Fluent English and confident communication with local and remote teams.
  • CCNP or equivalent certification preferred (not mandatory).

Training and onsite induction provided by an experienced engineering mentor.

Health check and site safety briefing arranged prior to mobilization.
