Job summary

Jing Hau in Khasab, Oman seeks an experienced Librarian to manage the library collection and assist patrons with research. You will promote reading and learning within the community and collaborate with teachers to support the school curriculum.

The role requires a MLS-like degree and at least three years in a library setting. The salary is 1300$ per month with accommodation provided as part of the package, and an opportunity to contribute to community literacy initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years experience working in a library setting.
• Knowledge of library cataloging systems and computer applications.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to work with a diverse community.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Fluent in English; Arabic knowledge preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain the library's collection of books, periodicals, and other materials
• Develop and implement library policies and procedures
• Assist patrons with finding and utilizing resources for research
• Provide guidance on information literacy and research skills
• Plan and facilitate library programs and events for all ages
• Collaborate with teachers to support the school curriculum
• Manage the library budget and make purchases for new materials
• Supervise library staff and volunteers
