Job summary

An international engineering firm is offering a temporary position for a Lead Process Engineer in Sohar, Oman. Applicants are expected to have 8-10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas or Refinery industry. Responsibilities include leading operational problem resolution and providing support to the teams. A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in various refinery processes and engineering standards.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas/Refinery industry.
  • Experience with Hydrogen Generation Units (HGU), Amine Recovery Unit (ARU), and Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU).
  • Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English.

Overview

We have a current opportunity for Lead Process Engineer Suhar on a temporary basis. The position will be based in Sohar, Oman. For further information about this position please apply.

Position Title: Lead Process Engineer Suhar

Location: Sohar, Oman

Duration: One year (extendable)

Start date: ASAP

Minimum Requirements

Provides strong professional technical expertise for the Leadership, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of process engineering-based activities at Sohar Refinery – RPI Assets, under TL Process Engineering scope’s, through; (1) Leading the resolution of complex operational problems in Sohar refinery 2, Identifying opportunities to optimize the operation in Sohar Refinery 2, and (3) (3) Guidance and support to the operations and the corresponding engineering, maintenance, and operation teams; in order to ensure projects and service targets are achieved efficiently and to optimum standards.

  • 8-10 year’s relevant experience as process engineer in within the Oil & Gas / Refinery industry, preferably with experience in:
  • Hydrogen Generation Units (HGU)
  • Amine Recovery Unit (ARU)
  • Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU)
  • Gasoline Hydro treating, Diesel Hydro treating and Hydrocracker unit’s operation.
  • CDUs & DCU processes
  • RFCC processes
  • HCU & ISOM processes
  • Recovery facilities processes
  • Offsite facilities processes
  • Experience and well versed in field investigation, inspections, troubleshooting, performance checks, data compilation, etc.
  • Understanding of Process Plant (P&ID / PFD) & Engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
  • Knowledge in software applications like OSI-PI and LIMS etc.
  • Hands-On Experience in use of Simulation Tools like ASPEN Engineering Suite Products, PETROSIM etc
  • Knowledge in Refinery and Aromatic Complex operations (Process, Static & Rotating Equipment)
  • Knowledge in HSE (Process Safety, H2S Awareness, Basic Fire Fighting, Emergency Response)
  • Knowledge of DCS systems.
  • Good knowledge and expertise of SAP.
  • Computer knowledge in MS Office applications like MS Word, MS excel etc.
  • Experience of benchmarking studies like Solomon.
  • Experience in Asset Master Data governance.
  • Sound judgment in technical matters with good skills in engineering field materials specifications and international standards.
  • Familiar with techniques for ensuring data integrity with various integration of information/ reports.
Notable Working Conditions

Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education requirements

Minimum qualification required is a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)
