Job summary

RW Group in Muscat, Oman is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to guide the team building and maintaining our PHP/Laravel backend platform. This is a hands-on role focused on writing production code, setting architectural direction, and mentoring engineers.

You will collaborate with Product, Frontend, DevOps and QA to deliver reliable, scalable systems, making hard architectural decisions and driving high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development, mainly PHP/Laravel.
• 2+ years of leading, mentoring, or managing engineers.
• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience shipping and running production systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, maintainable backend systems and APIs in PHP and Laravel; set technical direction and ensure code quality.
• Lead, mentor and develop a backend engineering team; plan sprints and priorities.
• Deliver well-tested features on time; collaborate with Product, Frontend, DevOps, and QA to enable end-to-end delivery.
