Job summary

gu-recruitment is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Coordinator for wind energy projects. You will lead the electrical design process, coordinating with civil, mechanical, and other disciplines, and ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

You will manage design subcontractors, provide site support during construction, monitor progress and risks, and assist in tender and procurement processes to deliver cost-effective, safe, and compliant electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical design and project coordination.
• Strong knowledge of wind farm electrical systems including substations, cabling, grid connections, and SCADA.
• Experience with BIM management in electrical design.
• Experience reviewing contracts, scope of works, specs, plans, and codes.
• Experience managing design subcontractors and reporting to senior management.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and project management tools.
• Experience in construction site coordination and team management.
• Strong problem-solving, ability to work under pressure, and excellent communication skills.
• Familiarity with IEC/NEC and grid code is a plus.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical Design Coordination & Management: Lead the electrical design process and ensure integration with other engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, etc.). Review and validate electrical designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. Manage and control design subcontractors, ensuring their deliverables meet project timelines and quality standards. Monitor the status of design projects and provide regular updates and reports to senior management. Collaborate with external design consultants, vendors, and contractors to optimize electrical system designs.
• Site Support: Provide technical support to the site team during construction, addressing design-related issues and troubleshooting electrical challenges. Monitor the on-site performance of electrical installations to ensure compliance with design plans and project timelines. Occasionally lead the site team, coordinating electrical works and ensuring alignment with the overall project schedule.
• Project Planning & Performance Monitoring: Support the project from the early stage of construction phase until the end of testing and commissioning works, ensuring all electrical works are executed as per plan. Track project progress, risks, and potential delays, implementing corrective actions when necessary. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordination of Tender & Procurement Processes: Support tendering processes by preparing technical documents, reviewing bids, and evaluating electrical suppliers/contractors. Assist in budget estimation and ensure cost-effective solutions are adopted without compromising performance.

Requirements Required Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical design and project coordination, preferably in wind energy or renewable energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of wind farm electrical systems, including substations, cabling, grid connections, and SCADA systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of BIM management and its application in electrical design.
• Experience in reviewing contracts, scope of works, specifications, plans, and codes to design cost-effective systems.
• Experience in managing design subcontractors and reporting project status to senior management.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and project management tools.
• Experience in construction site coordination and team management.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and excellent communication skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with international electrical standards (IEC, NEC, etc.) and grid code requirements. Familiarity with contract management and procurement processes. Previous involvement in tender evaluations and early-stage project planning.
