MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITIONغرض من المسمى الوظيفي:
  • Oversee all accounting functions for the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance.
  • Provide strategic financial support to plant operations and contribute to business decision-making through timely and insightful financial analysis.
  • Ensure integrity, transparency, and efficiency in financial operations in accordance with Omani regulations and international accounting standards.
DUTIES المهام الوظيفية:
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the Sohar plant in accordance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Head Office in Muscat and Group Management in Canada to align reporting formats, timelines, and financial policies.
  • Supervise and mentor the bookkeeping and finance support staff at the plant level.
  • Oversee bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and month-end close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Omani tax laws, including VAT filing, withholding tax, and other statutory obligations.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, schedules, and responses to queries.
  • Monitor plant expenditures against budget and provide variance analysis to plant and Head Office management.
  • Liaise with banks, auditors, tax authorities, and other external stakeholders as required.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Support cost accounting and inventory valuation activities in coordination with operations and procurement teams.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of accounting/ERP software upgrades or enhancements.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic initiatives at the plant.
  • Ensure timely submission of all statutory and management reports to relevant authorities and offices.

  • Regulatory Compliance Pressure – Ensure consistent adherence to evolving Omani financial, tax (especially VAT), and labor regulations while meeting internal audit and reporting standards.
  • Cross-Location Coordination – Maintain accurate and timely financial data flow between the Sohar plant and the Head Office in Muscat despite operational and communication gaps.
  • Month-End Close Tight Deadlines – Deliver clean, reconciled financial statements under tight timelines while managing a small local finance team and supporting audit readiness.
  • Inventory & Cost Accuracy in Manufacturing – Resolve discrepancies between physical inventory counts and book records in a dynamic polymer production environment, ensuring accurate cost of goods sold and margin reporting.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES مهارات والكفاءات:
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, Omani accounting standards, and tax regulations (especially VAT).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office (especially advanced Excel).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively across cultures and organizational levels.
  • Integrity, discretion, and commitment to ethical financial practices.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote plant setting with minimal supervision.
