Job summary

A community care organization in New Zealand is seeking enthusiastic Youth Support Workers to create a positive difference in the lives of young people. Responsibilities include supporting daily routines and fostering independence while working within a values-driven team. About the role | He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Youth Support Workers who are keen to create positive difference to the tamariki and rangatahi we support in our residential and community services. Please note these roles are within a Female Only Service and can be based in our Christchurch, Rangiora and/or Rolleston services.

The young people we support may come from an experience of significant trauma alongside neurodiversity. So as a Youth Support Worker, it is important that you have an understanding how to support through trauma-informed approach lens while maintaining a firm professional boundary.

Key responsibilities
  • Supporting the young person with their daily routine. Preparing meals, administering medication, school drop off and pick up, taking them to appointments, support with personal care and some household tasks.
  • Encouraging rangatahi to grow their independence and confidence
  • Maintaining a safe, warm and welcoming whare
  • Participating in regular team hui and learning opportunities
  • Helping people stay connected to their culture, whānau, and local community

  • A good understanding of Positive Behaviour Support is desirable along with relevant Health and Wellbeing qualifications.

What you will bring | Ngā tohunga mō tēnei tūranga
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to complete one at our cost)
  • Hold a full current NZ Driver License (Essential)
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand
  • Have a valid work or student visa with a minimum of 12 months until expiry
  • Be able to work across all shifts
