Job summary

PlaceMakers Napier is seeking a proactive Yard & Drive Thru Team Member. You will assist customers, provide product advice, and handle loading/unloading, orders, and deliveries in a busy yard environment.

Ideal candidates have timber yard experience, are safety-conscious, physically fit, and hold a NZ Class 1 licence with forklift experience. This is a full-time role with 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday plus rostered Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Experience in timber yard or building supplies environment.
• Strong work ethic and approachable attitude.
• Physically fit with ability to lift and perform manual handling.
• Forklift experience with F endorsement desirable.
• NZ Class 1 driver's licence essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist and recommend products to customers.
• Pick, assemble and process orders and transactions.
• Load/unload customer vehicles, delivery vans and supplier trucks.
• Support dispatch and coordinate daily deliveries.
• Monitor inventory levels, perform cycle counts and stock replenishment.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised yard.
• Operate a forklift.

As a Yard & Drive Thru Team Member at PlaceMakers you’ll be the trusted expert our building trade customers rely on. Working across our yard and drive-thru areas, you’ll provide hands-on support and assistance, deliver tailored product advice, load vehicles and help to create a customer experience that keeps them coming back.

• Assist & recommend products that suit the needs and preferences of every customer
• Pick, assemble, and process orders and transactions
• Load and unload customer vehicles, delivery vans, and supplier trucks
• Support dispatch and coordinate daily deliveries
• Monitor inventory levels, complete cycle counts and stock replenishment
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard through general housekeeping
• Operate a Forklift

Permanent full-time role at PlaceMakers Napier offering 40 hours per week Monday-Friday + Rostered Saturdays.

About You: To succeed in this role, you'll have proven experience working in a timber yard or building supplies environment. You'll be safety-focused, physically fit, and confident operating a forklift in a busy yard setting. Most importantly, you'll be a reliable team player who enjoys helping customers and supporting tradies to get what they need.

• Previous experience working in a timber yard or similar trade environment.
• Strong work ethic and an approachable, down-to-earth attitude
• Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting and manual handling
• Full NZ Class 1 drivers’ licence is essential
• Forklift experience with F endorsement is desirable
• Knowledge of building products or the construction industry is preferred
