Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced Supervisor to join our WellFood team, providing leadership for safe, nutritious patient meals and services. You will oversee frontline staff, coordinate staffing, recruit and develop the team, and ensure food safety and high service standards in a busy healthcare setting.

You will monitor quality, drive continuous improvement, manage rosters and payroll records, and collaborate with the Hospitality Manager to deliver excellent patient

Qualifications

• At least 12 months’ experience supervising medium to large teams.
• NZQA Assessor certification.
• Experience in staff rostering, supervision and operational planning.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and relevant software applications.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt complex information to suit a range of audiences.
• Ability to support people with varying literacy levels, digital learning needs and English proficiency.
• Commitment to teamwork, staff development, accountability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and hands-on guidance to frontline Food Services staff.
• Coordinate daily staffing, workloads and service delivery.
• Support staff recruitment, onboarding, training and roster planning.
• Maintain staff attendance and roster records for payroll.
• Monitor food quality, safety, hygiene and infection prevention.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, experience and service quality.
• Assist with stock control, wastage monitoring and resource use.
• Maintain operational records and support audits and quality improvement activities.
• Monitor equipment and supply requirements and report maintenance needs.
• Build relationships with clinical teams, support services and contractors.
• Collaborate with Hospitality Manager on service improvements and high standards.
