This role is a great introduction to the world of water resource sciences and a way to get to know the wonderful rivers and streams of the Southland Region. The role will be primarily field based, undertaking and supporting the summer monitoring programmes, including our summer gauging and flows, ground water resources and quality, as well as while including some office and desk-based work. Attention to detail, data entry skills, confidence in and around waterways, and a keen interest in water resource sciences are a must. You will also need a full driver's licence.
This position is available from 16 November 2026 - 26 February 2027. You are eligible to apply if you are currently enrolled in a tertiary institution or have graduated this year. All Summer Student roles are offered at a rate of $29.90 per hour and a 37.5-hour week.
