Job summary

Christchurch Grabstore Limited is hiring two Warehouse and Customer Service Assistants in Christchurch. The role combines warehouse tasks with customer support, with a pay rate of $24.50–$30.00 per hour and a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications are required.
• Previous experience in customer service, administration, or warehouse work would be an advantage but is not essential.
• Ability to respond to customer enquiries and provide helpful, professional customer service.
• Good attention to detail when handling orders, product information, and stock records.
• Physically fit and energetic, with the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and undertake heavy lifting as required.
• Positive, proactive, and hardworking, with a can-do attitude and the ability to complete tasks within the required timeframes.
• Reliable and punctual, with a strong commitment to attendance and work responsibilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet operational targets and deadlines.
• Ability to follow instructions and carry out assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Flexible and available to work weekends during busy periods, including early morning starts and late-night finishes on Saturdays and Sundays.
• Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment drug test and a Ministry of Justice criminal record check, if required by the employer.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer emails, messages and marketplace enquiries about products, orders and general questions.
• Give pre-sales advice: check stock availability and guide customers on product use using manuals and user guides.
• Provide after-sales support: order tracking, returns and exchanges, and basic troubleshooting.
• Record customer enquiries and complaints and escalated complex or unresolved issues to the right person.
• Create and update product listings on the website and online marketplaces, including titles, descriptions, specifications, prices and stock levels.
• Turn supplier product information (specifications, manuals and images) into accurate, complete listings.
• Liaise with suppliers to obtain product details and resolve product information issues.
• Keep product costs, sales prices and stock information up to date in line with supplier details and stock on hand.
• Check live listings regularly and fix errors, out-of-stock items and missing information.
• Unload containers and vehicles, open packages and remove contents.
• Receive incoming goods and check for damage and for discrepancies against invoices.
• Use the stock system to find the location and quantity of items in stock.
• Label goods with their storage location.
• Pick orders using manual and electronic order pickers, checking goods against picking lists.
• Pack, weigh and seal orders for dispatch.
• Move goods using hydraulic pallet lifters, hand trucks and other materials handling equipment.
• Assist with regular stocktakes.
• Follow health and safety guidelines, especially for lifting (up to 25 kg regularly; trolleys and team lifts used when needed).
• Keep the packing area, storage zones, staff rooms, offices and amenities clean and tidy.
• The employee is required to carry out these responsibilities and any other reasonable duties required from time to time.
