Job summary

WM New Zealand is recruiting a Waste and Recycling Ambassador to support Wanaka’s CBD and high-traffic areas with waste and recycling management. The role focuses on preventing litter, promoting recycling, and engaging with the community.

The position offers 15 hours per week across three afternoons (11am–5pm) with potential for additional hours. It starts Labour Weekend and runs through Easter 2027, in a fixed-term capacity.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused and friendly.
• Physically active and able to work outdoors.
• Able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Must be in New Zealand with a current work visa / residency or NZ citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Look after public rubbish, glass and recycling receptacles in Wanaka CBD and other high-traffic areas.
• Monitor and report on waste and recycling levels.
• Engage with the community to promote waste minimisation and sustainability.
• Keep receptacles and surrounding areas clean, tidy and well presented.
