Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is recruiting a Youth Worker on a permanent full-time basis for our Hamilton site. You will support tamariki, rangatahi and whānau, building relationships and helping young people achieve their goals alongside Social Workers and partner agencies.

You will engage with whānau, plan activities, and assist in coordinating appointments, while contributing to care standards and outcomes for rangatahi in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Familiar with Te Reo Māori and Tikanga.
• A full, clean NZ driver licence.
• Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices, including Māori and Pacific cultures.
• Experience working with traumatised rangatahi.
• Understanding of Oranga Tamariki as an organisation.

Responsibilities

• Engage with whānau and tangata whai oranga involved in the rangatahi's plan.
• Spend time with rangatahi and relate to young people.
• Work with Social Workers to support care standards and positive outcomes.
• Attend meetings with rangatahi and professionals from agencies (Police, Education, Health).
• Coordinate appointments for rangatahi and involve in activity-based programmes.
• Support rangatahi to attend visits to services and at-home visits if needed.
